You remember when I first posted this mix, right? A few weeks ago, Soulwax released an app that took 2 years to create. That would sound normal, except for the fact that it was an app created under stressful circumstances. Basically, 24 hour-long mixes were produced by Soulwax/2 Many DJs, but they’re not just audio mixes — they hired animators, actors, and producers to make hour-long films that synced up with the music. Not only that, but this was also while they were on their non-stop tour around the world. To make the app actually legal — every song and album cover remixed will never be cleared, for obvious reasons — Soulwax bought an internet radio license that allowed them to whatever they want, as long as their product functioned as a legit radio station. The downside to this is that they — and everyone else that worked on this project — would never get paid for this.
Nevertheless, the app is free to download on the iTunes App Store and Android Market, and there’s also a 24-hour broadcast on their website. The first mix listed in the app, as well as embedded in the post below, is “Introversy,” which was made in 2009 for BBC Radio 1.
You heard the audio version, now see 429 album covers in a whole new way.
